The Coming of James Meredith

In the year of 1962, James Meredith became the first black to attend the University of Mississippi. Ross Barnett, Mississippi's governor, opposed the enrollement of James Meredith at the university. Violence and riots broke out because of the incidence. President Kennedy had to send federal troops to restore peace.
